Rapper Cassidy reportedly suffered serious injuries in a Wednesday (10/4) traffic accident on the New Jersey Turnpike.
The Philadelphia native reportedly was on the way to a Manhattan recording studio when the SUV he was traveling in was struck by an oncoming truck. Cassidy, whose real name is Barry Reese, 23, was sitting in the passenger seat, and was the only person injured, according to the Philadelphia Daily News. His injuries were said to include a fractured skull and several broken facial bones.
A J Records publicist told the newspaper on Thursday (10/5) that the rapper was in critical condition; MTV News later reported that CAT scan results showed that his brain activity was normal, and that--though he was heavily sedated--the injuries were not considered life-threatening.
Earlier this year, Cassidy was released after serving an eight-month prison sentence for manslaughter and other charges in connection with the shooting death of 22-year-old man in Philadelphia.
Cassidy is currently gearing up for the release of his third solo album titled The Barry Adrien Reese Story (B.A.R.S.).
The Philly bred rapper, who went through trying times through the past 2 years including serving a year in jail and surviving a serious car accident, says his forthcoming album will be introspective and will reveal his faith in God.
"So many serious things happened in my life," Cassidy told. "What I'm talking about has nothing to do with me being a read more

Cassidy has a little advice for mogul Jay-Z. The Swizz Beatz protégé thinks the Def Jam prez should push his album back.
