The controversial singer teams up with the equally controversial diva.
If there's someone who can understand Akon's recent bad publicity, then it's the troubled, former drug-using Whitney Houston. The R&B phenom announced recently that he would soon work with the diva on her next album.
"We haven't actually gone into the studio yet; right now I'm just coming up with a lot of different ideas and directions," Akon told Billboard.com. "I just think she needs to come [out] with great songs. I think the music will overcome all the things she's been through."
"The voice is there;" he said, "I don't think anyone could ever take that from her," he continued. "As long as we apply that voice to hit records, she'll be right back where she left off."
Houston hasn't released a complete collection of original compositions since the 2002 release, Just Whitney. After her ongoing drug and health issues, and now rumours of a comeback album, her eventual reemergence to music is eagerly anticipated.
