Britney Spears
and ex-husbandKevin Federline
celebrated their son Sean Preston's second birthday by hammering out a spousal support settlement in Los Angeles on Friday.
Lawyers for the former couple agreed that Federlineshould continue receiving $20,000 a month in spousal support until November, after which he'll receive only child support payments from his ex-wife.
Outside court, Spearsattorney, Laura Wasser, told
People magazine reporters, “I think she just wants to be a mom.
"Both of her kids' birthdays are this week, and I think she would've liked to celebrate with them without having to worry about the entire nation--the entire world--being concerned about what's going on with her personally and her custody battle with Mr.Federline."
She went on to deny a report suggesting her client had offered Federlinea settlement earlier this week to end their ongoing financial and child custody battles.
The rumor started on Wednesday-son Jayden James' first birthday-when Spears
attended an unscheduled meeting with Federlineand his attorney at Wasser's office.
Wasser added, "I don't believe that's true. They met and are trying to work it out so they don't have to have a judge make determinations for them regarding their kids."
Spears
and Federlineare due to face each other before a family court judge on Monday to discuss child custody arrangements.
