A representative for the New York Police Department confirmed to MTV News on Monday (October 15) that an incident took place early Saturday morning inside Kiosk, a store located in New York's Soho neighborhood that hosts parties by night, and that officers are investigating the matter. He would not confirm that the incident was an alleged assault that may have involved Sean "Diddy" Combs.
A representative for Combs' attorney, Benjamin Brafman, told that the lawyer is "not commenting" on the situation. But an eyewitness to the incident spoke with MTV News on Monday morning and described what they saw.
The incident occurred at around 3:30 a.m., soon after Combs arrived with his entourage. Before entering Kiosk, the witness claims Combs spoke briefly with Steven Acevedo, a discussion that was characterized as "intense." Soon afterward, both men entered the club's main room, where they were whisked away to separate tables.
Minutes later, the witness claims Combs "aggressively marched" over to Acevedo's table and confronted him. The two men exchanged heated words, and the witness said Combs struck Acevedo with two consecutive, rapid punches. Members from both entourages immediately intervened and separated the two; both Acevedo and Combs exited the club soon after without further incident.
The New York Post reported on Sunday that police are looking into whether Kiosk has any surveillance-video footage that might shed light on the incident, and that investigators would contact Combs, who has not been arrested or charged, and ask him to provide a statement.
The Post's report alleges that the tension between Combs and Acevedo was over a woman, and that Acevedo sustained a bloody nose and a fat lip during the fray.
