Busta Rhymes has been sentenced to 10 days community service and a $1,250 fine after pleading guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI).
The 35-year-old musician will also be forced to undertake the Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) programme after accepting the plea deal at New York's Manhattan Criminal Court on Wednesday (23.01.08).
He will also have to pay a $1,250 fine and court costs relating to the DUI charge, which stems from his May 2007 arrest for the offence.
Rhymes, real name Trevor Smith, also plead guilty to three other charges against him - two assault charges and one count of driving with a suspended license. For the assault charges - which stem from the rapper kicking and punching a former employee during an argument and, in a separate incident, attacking a concert-goer who is said to have spat on his car - Rhymes was sentenced to three years probation, to be served concurrently.
If he violates the probation order, Rhymes will be forced to serve a year in jail. Protection orders were also issued for the victims of Rhymes' assault. For driving with a suspended license, Rhymes' license has been revoked for six months.
