Coldplay are planning to leave EMI Records. 
The band, fronted by Gwyneth Paltrow's husband Chris Martin, are set to follow in the footsteps of Sir Paul McCartney and Radiohead by cutting ties with the label after the release of their fourth studio album, 'Prospekt', in May.
A source close to the band said: "There's so much uncertainty in the record industry right now. The boys don't necessarily need a label anymore.

Britney Spears has run away with her new paparazzo boyfriend. 
The 'Gimme More' singer fled to Palm Desert, California, with 35-year-old British photographer Adnan Ghalib after discharging herself from Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on Saturday (05.01.08).
Before she left hospital, where she was under psychiatric evaluation, Britney was reportedly overheard saying: "He is my only friend in the whole world."
The couple were seen toasting Britney's release from hospital ..

Sugababe Amelle Berrabah's hospitalised boyfriend needs an emergency transplant after both his kidneys failed. 
The singer's lover Freddie Fuller, who was almost killed during a terrifying machete attack on Christmas Eve (24.12.07), is believed to be on dialysis while he waits for a life-saving double kidney transplant.
A friend of Amelle's said: "We are really worried he might not make it."
Freddie, 25, was rushed to St. Helier Hospital, in Epsom, on Saturday (05.01.08) after his organs failed.

Amy Winehouse has infuriated her imprisoned husband by holidaying with her ex-boyfriend. 
The 'Rehab' singer returned to the UK yesterday (06.01.08) to explain to "jealous" Blake - who is languishing on remand in London's Pentonville Prison - why she went to the private Caribbean island of Mustique with former lover George Roberts.
A source said: "Blake is furious she was with George while he was locked up.
She has lapped up the sun while he's been on his own feeling miserable.

Justin Timberlake has been spotted cosying up to his 'Alpha Dog co-star Amanda Seyfried. 
The 'SexyBack' singer - who is dating 'The Illusionist' star Jessica Biel - and 22-year-old 'Mean Girls' actress Amanda enjoyed a drink together at New York's Pink Elephant club last week.
A source told the New York Daily News newspaper: "They met up in the club and left together after just 15 minutes.

Victoria Beckham has revealed she and the rest of the band - Emma Bunton, Mel C and Geri Halliwell - constantly go to Scary Spice Mel with their bedroom problems.
Victoria said: "If we have sex problems, we go to Mel B - she is like the doctor."

Jay-Z quit as president of Def Jam Recordings because he wanted more money. 
The '99 Problems' rapper left the music label after realising he makes more money as an "artist and entrepreneur" than as a record executive, and will now focus on opening more nightclubs and his own "chic" hotel.
A source told the New York Post newspaper: "Jay just didn't have time to be president of Def Jam.
