50 Cent has overtaken Jay-Z to be named the Hip-Hop Cash King of 2008.
The 'Candy Shop' singer topped the new list, compiled by Forbes.com, after making a staggering $150 million in the last 12 months. The musician's impressive earnings - mainly down to Coca-Cola buying out his stake in VitaminWater - ensured he shot straight to the top of the rankings, beating former King Jay-Z, who made $82 million.
50, real name Curtis James Jackson III, also owns G-Unit Clothing Company and has teamed up with Right Guard to launch a body spray and a line of condoms.
He has also starred in a number of movies, including ' Get Rich or Die Tryin'' and 'Home of the Brave'. Runner-up Jay-Z made his fortune by releasing a platinum-selling album and signing a 10-year deal with concert promoter Live Nation worth a reported $150 million. |

Britney Spears’ custody battle could cost her over $700,000.
The troubled singer’s lengthy court process with ex-husband Kevin Federline to establish access rights to their sons, Sean Preston, two, and 23-month-old Jayden James, led to two law firms billing her a combined total of $466,000, court documents have revealed.
In addition, Britney, 26, also agreed to pay Kevin’s legal fees, which amounted to around $250,000. The largest bill comes from attorney Stacy D. Nicole Scherzinger says being famous is hard work.
The Pussycat Dolls singer - who is currently dating British Formula 1 racing driver Lewis Hamilton - insists fans don't realise just how much effort goes into being a pop star.
She said: "It's not as glamourous as people think. It has its ups and downs.
There can be a lot of intrusion into your private life, but I want to be known for my music.
"It's not partying all the time - sometimes when I get the chance I am too tired to party! People don't see the work that goes in to touring but it's definitely worth it." |
