GERI HALLIWELL said she is not planning to return to the charts anytime soon.
The former Spice Girl said she wants to concentrate on her career as a children's author instead
Speaking to Red magazine, she said it was time for younger talent to take the reins and step into her shoes.
She said: "Everybody has their moment and their time. Let somebody else have a crack at it. There are younger people around now.
"I didn't want to have to stay young in order to sell records. And I didn't want to have to rely on my looks."
But she added: "I don't want to say never, though. Who knows? I could do a record when I'm 60."
Halliwell, 36, also told the magazine that she is in talks to turn her Ugenia Lavender books into a cartoon series.
She said: "We all have talents and we should use them. It's nice to be able to contribute to the world. I'm a natural communicator, a storyteller."
