 Akon joins Billboard Latin Music Awards |

 Latin music super-stars, Enrique Iglesias, Daddy Yankee, Ruben Blades y los Seis del Solar, Reik, Aventura, and Wisin y Yandel, will join the star-studded line-up of artists scheduled to perform at the 2009 Billboard Latin Music Awards, presented by State Farm.
They will be joined by multi-platinum selling singer, Akon, who has confirmed to appear on the event, in addition to the all-male dance troupe JabbaWockeeZ.
The awards show will take place on Thursday, April 23 at 7PM/6c from The BankUnited Center at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida, and will air live in High Definition on Telemundo, the first Hispanic network to broadcast in true HD. |

50 Cent overtakes Jay-Z as Cash King |

 50 Cent has overtaken Jay-Z to be named the Hip-Hop Cash King of 2008.
The 'Candy Shop' singer topped the new list, compiled by Forbes.com, after making a staggering $150 million in the last 12 months. The musician's impressive earnings - mainly down to Coca-Cola buying out his stake in VitaminWater - ensured he shot straight to the top of the rankings, beating former King Jay-Z, who made $82 million.
50, real name Curtis James Jackson III, also owns G-Unit Clothing Company and has teamed up with Right Guard to launch a body spray and a line of condoms.
He has also starred in a number of movies, including ' Get Rich or Die Tryin'' and 'Home of the Brave'. Runner-up Jay-Z made his fortune by releasing a platinum-selling album and signing a 10-year deal with concert promoter Live Nation worth a reported $150 million. |

 It has been four years since the R&B songstress Ashanti released her third studio album, Concrete Rose. Now, the princess of hip-hop and R&B has returned with a new outlook and sound as she preps her forthcoming LP, The Declaration, dropping on Tuesday (June 3).
"It's been four years since my last project and music has changed so much," Ashanti explained. "Nowadays [the music] is changing every few weeks. This time around I'm handling the whole project on my own. It's like I'm declaring a sense of freedom, a sense of growing up." |

 Kanye West, with his 8 Grammy nominations, has been picked by readers to edge out "Big Brother" Jay-Z and others at the 50th Annual Grammy Awards.
Readers weighed in with their picks for key Grammy categories. When asked who had the year's best album, 79 percent said Kanye West. Amy Winehouse, whose recent time in rehab raised questions about her Grammy appearance, was the second choice with 16 percent of the vote.
When it comes to best rap album, 45 percent of those surveyed said Kanye West's Graduation topped all rap albums in 2007, while his Chi-Town brethren, Common, came in a distant second with 17 percent voting for Finding Forever. Jay-Z's Kingdom Come fell just behind with 16 percent, .. |

The former Destiny's Child star will be joined by the pop legend on-stage at the ceremony in Los Angeles.

 Akon has pleaded not guilty to endangering the welfare of a minor and second degree harassment.
Earlier this year the star lured a fan onto the stage, then threw him off into the crowd, and a woman who allegedly suffered concussion after the boy landed on her sued him.
His lawyer Benjamin Brafman said in a statement, "It was never Akon's intention to violate the law. |
