The Australian star, who plays a depressed woman in new film 'Closed for Winter', found it easy to identify with her character Elise Silverton because they share similar personality traits.
The singer-and-actress said: "For all my strength, I also have that vulnerable side. There's something - a melancholy, I guess.
"Sometimes I get a bit down. I see it in a couple of my sisters, too. We can lean towards that, that melancholy, but we also have the ability to pull ourselves out of it, and some people just don't. That's the difference." |

A source is quoted as saying: "They are becoming really close pals with Jay-Z and Beyonce. Gwyneth's kids call him 'Uncle Jay' and she and Chris were special guests at Jay-Z's wedding." |

The Australian singer joined forces with the Coldplay frontman on a "string of tracks" for her fourth studio album.
Martin wrote some songs for the former Neighbours actress while taking a break from his band's studio earlier this month.
Imbruglia, 34, revealed late last year that she was in the finishing stages of recording the new album. |

COLDPLAY paid a fashion tribute to the Beatles at the Grammys last night - but then apologised to Sir Paul McCartney.
The band took to the stage to accept the award for Song of the Year dressed in brightly-coloured military-style jackets reminiscent of those worn on the cover of the Sgt. Pepper's album.
As they held up the gong for their song 'Viva la Vida', drummer Will Champion said: "This is incredible." |

Coldplay and Duffy are each up for four awards at this year's BRITs.
Chris Martin and his band are in the running for Best British Group, Best British Live Act, Best British Album for 'Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends' and Best British Single for 'Viva La Vida'.
Welsh songstress Duffy is in the running for Best British Breakthrough Act, Best British Single for 'Mercy' and Best British Album for 'Rockferry'.
Duffy - whose debut LP, 'Rockferry', was the best-selling British album of 2008 - will also battle Adele, Beth Rowley, Estelle and MIA for Best Female Solo Artist.
Leona Lewis - who had a sensational 2008 on both sides of the Atlantic - is up for just one prize Best British Single, for her track 'Better In Time', which is voted for by the public. |

Chris Martin has announced that over the coming year Coldplay will significantly be changing thier musical style.
The frontman says the band have a lot to achieve before their impending 10-year anniversary.
He told The Sun: "We feel bands need to fill their first 10 years, so we have lots to do before December 31st 2009.
"I know it's stupid, but that's kind of our deadline. We have to do something good by then." |

The song will be available for 12 days (of Christmas) as a free download.

RAPPER Lil Wayne and rock band Coldplay lead 2009's Grammy contenders with 15 nominations between them.
Lil Wayne, whose album Tha Carter III was the biggest selling album in the US this year, won eight nominations, including Album of the Year and Best Rap Solo Performance.
Coldplay landed seven nominations including Album of the Year and Best Rock Performance by a Group.
Many other British acts have been recognised and dominate the Record of the Year category with Adele, Leona Lewis, M.I.A, Coldplay and Robert Plant all contenders. |

Kylie Minogue and Coldplay have teamed up for a charity song in support of World AIDS Day (December 1).
The song, 'Lhuna’ has an ethereal feel and Chris Martin’s vocals have so many effects on it he almost sounds like Leonard Cohen.
Compared to anything either artist has attempted before, it’s certainly quite a leap.
Proceeds go to (RED)Wire, a charity that helps supply AIDS medication to those who can’t afford it. |

Chris Martin revealed the band intend to play the Hertfordshire venue next summer, although no arrangements have been confirmed as yet.

Alicia Keys has been nominated for five accolades at the American Music Awards.
The 'No One’ singer will battle Coldplay, Lil Wayne, Chris Brown and the Eagles for the prestigious Artist of the Year award at the ceremony to be held in Los Angeles on November 23.
Alicia has also been nominated in the Female Artist and Album categories in the Pop/Rock section and Female Artist and Album in the Soul/Rhythm and Blues section.
As well as competing against Alicia in the Artist of the Year category and the Pop/Rock Album section, British band Coldplay – who received worldwide acclaim for their latest LP 'Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends' - will battle the Foo Fighters and Linkin Park for Alternative Rock Artist and the Eagles and Daughtry in the Pop/Rock Band, duo or group category. |

The band's frontman Chris Martin insists they are at their peak and their live performances are better than ever.
Speaking after a show in Munich, Germany, last week, Chris told Absolute Radio: "I think our concert is the least s**t Coldplay concert at the moment that you could have possibly ever seen. Do you see what I mean? We're better than we used to be."

The band – who are currently on a world tour to promote new album 'Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends' – claim the videotrons make them look like they have “love handles” and are worried their fans will think they have piled on the pounds.
Frontman Chris Martin said: “We’ve turned from a Mars Bar into a King-sized Mars Bar.
There’s a little bit of fat on me. I could see on the screen. It adds love handles.” |

Radio 1 DJ and TV presenter Fearne Cotton will present this year’s BT Digital Music Awards, along with co-host comedian Rufus Hound, held for the third year running at The Roundhouse in Camden on Wednesday 1st October.
The Sugababes are lined up to open the prestigious awards ceremony with other live performances from Mercury Music Prize nominated British Sea Power, 19-year old singer/songwriter Sam Beeton and Ida Maria.

Metallica, Kings Of Leon Overtake U.K. Charts |

American rock took over the U.K. charts yesterday (Sept. 14) as Metallica's "Death Magnetic" (Vertigo/Universal) hit the top of the album chart after just two days on sale, while Kings of Leon scored their first No. 1 single with "Sex on Fire" (Hand Me Down/Sony BMG).
Metallica's ninth studio album outsold Scottish rock outfit Glasvegas's self-titled Columbia debut by a third, according to Official Charts Company data. It's the second time this year that an album has reached the top of the chart despite being released later in the chart week, after Coldplay's Thursday debut in June with "Viva La Viva or Death and All His Friends" (Parlophone/EMI). |

The world-famous bands will battle Muse and Kings of Leon for the prestigious prize at the ceremony held by the British music magazine.
Elsewhere, Australian star Gabriella Cilmi is up against British singers Duffy and Adele, as well as Santogold and Bon Iver, for the Breakthrough Award. Hot on the heels of June's 'Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends', the band have reportedly already recorded the majority of its follow-up and plan to have it ready early next year.
A source at the band's record label, EMI, told Britain's The Sun newspaper: "The 'Viva La Vida' sessions were incredibly fruitful. They gelled brilliantly with producer Brian Eno and recorded much more music than they could fit on one album.

Coldplay’s album Viva La Vida has to date been the No.1 selling album in 36 countries around the world, including in the U.S., where it held the top spot for two weeks, and in the U.K. where the album has been No.1 for the last four weeks.
Coldplay’s previous album, the 10 million-selling X&Y, reached No.1 in 32 countries in 2005.
In a number of countries, including the U.K., France, Germany and Japan, first week sales of Viva La Vida exceeded those of X&Y, and Viva La Vida has already been certified gold or platinum in 31 countries including platinum in the USA, Germany and Australia and double platinum in the U.K. and Canada. |
