The showbiz couple, who have been dogged by suggestions their union is close to breaking up for some time, have called it quits.
A source told the Sunday Mirror newspaper: "Justin truly thought he'd found the one in Jessica and she felt the same. But the relationship just didn't seem to go anywhere.
"They've both been working incredibly hard and will remain friendly - but there's no more romance.
"It was mutual and they agreed it was best to part ways if things weren't going to head towards marriage and kids. They are both incredibly busy.

 The singer recorded 'Rated R’ a few months after being assaulted by then-boyfriend Chris Brown in February and has revealed the recording studio became a haven for her as she tried to get over the violent attack.
She said: "I hid out for a while, but that just drove me crazy. I got cabin fever. I was ready to make music again. It was a hard time, but I found peace in the studio."
The 'Russian Roulette’ singer deliberately chose to collaborate with people she had worked with before, including Justin Timberlake and Ne-Yo, to help her get over the ordeal.
She explained to the USA Today newspaper: "I wanted something grimy. It was important to have familiar people in the studio, for there to be a comfort level, because of what I wanted to say."

 A truck transporting equipment for the Britney Spears Australian tour has crashed on Thursday near Parkes, NSW.
Reports state that the vehicle was travelling along the Newell Highway at around 3.30pm when it was flipped strong winds.
The driver was taken to hospital but there was no damage to the equipment.
Spears will finish her successful month-long Australian tour on Sunday in Adelaide. |

The 'SexyBack' singer is currently preparing for a week-long trek up Mount Kilimanjaro - the world's largest free standing mountain - with rapper Lupe Fiasco and US singer Kenna to raise awareness of the global water crisis.
He said: "I've been training four times a week to get my VO2 - oxygen consumption - levels up to expand my lungs. We'll climb for a week straight, carrying 30 lbs on our backs. It's going to be intense, but it's going to be so rewarding. |

The SexyBack singer laughed off reports that he had proposed to actress Biel after they attended a friend's wedding in Italy last year.

The former wowed the crowd during the third song of the night, "Human Nature," while Timberlake joined Madonna on "4 Minutes" towards the end of the show.
Spears, in her first public performance since the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards, emerged from the back of the stage to the roar of the crowd, looking radiant in black heels and slacks, a white ruffled dress shirt and straight blond hair.
