The '4 Minutes’ singer – whose mother died of breast cancer when she was five years old – is currently visiting the African nation with her children, Lourdes, 13 and Rocco, nine, and adopted Mercy, five, and David, four, who are both from the country, and admits she is delighted to be able to help young women with the Raising Malawi Academy for Girls school.
In a blog about laying the first bricks for the educational institute, she wrote: 'On my first visit to Malawi, I was devastated to meet child after child who had been orphaned by AIDS. Having lost my mother at such a young age, I felt a close connection to these children. Their stories had touched my own. |

 Careese Henry, the former manager of Madonna, has died from what is being called at this stage a self-inflicted gunshot wound. She was 44.
In her time representing artists Henry also worked with Ricky Martin, Jessica Simpson, Joss Stone and Paula Abdul.She died at her home in Irvine, California on Wednesday.
Henry leaves behind two daughters, Honour Kristen Norman and Ava Careese Hinojosa. The family has issued a statement asking for the media to respect their privacy at this time.
A funeral has been arranged for April 9th at 11am at St Paul’s Church in Westwood, California. |

 Madonna, Beyonce Knowles and Tom Cruise joined George Clooney in yesterday's (22.01.10) telethon to raise funds for victims of the Haiti earthquake.
The telethon - broadcast from Los Angeles, New York and London - saw more than 140 stars come together to perform and raise funds to aid relief in the Caribbean state, which has been struck by two huge earthquakes in the last two weeks, leaving hundreds of thousands dead.

 Fifty years since the term 'music video’ was first coined and on the anniversary of its release, Michael Jackson’s Thriller has been voted the most influential music video of all time.
Music fans voted for Jackson’s video - directed by Hollywood filmmaker John Landis and released 27 years ago this week - in an online poll conducted by music video site www.muzu.tv. Michael also made the list with his sister Janet for the video for 'Scream’, which at a cost of $7million also takes the title of the most expensive video ever made.
The list is dominated by classic videos from the 80s and 90s. Peter Gabriel’s iconic Sledgehammer video (number five), released in 1987, was one of the first pieces of work by Wallace & Gromit creators Aardman Studios and won a record nine MTV Video Music Awards. |
