Mutya Buena mades legal bid for Sugababes name |
 |
 |
Former Sugababes star Mutya Buena has made a legal bid for ownership of the band’s name.
The 'Real Girl’ singer – who quit the girl group in 2005 to pursue a solo career – has filed an ownership request to the European Trademarks Authority.
Her legal firm Kilburn and Strode has confirmed the application has been registered but is yet to be approved. They are "hopeful" it will be passed in just a few months.
If the ownership request is granted Mutya would have the rights to use the Sugababes band name to sell a variety of products, including CDs, DVDs, T-shirts and books.
Mutya founded the Sugababes with school friends Keisha Buchanan and Siobhan Donaghy in 1998. |

The singer – who was replaced in the group in September by Jade Ewen following a series of rows with her bandmates Heidi Range and Amelle Berrabah - insists the current line-up are only out for themselves and she doesn’t miss their friendship.
She said: 'I’m doing what’s best for me. They did what’s best for them.
'The fact is, I was in Sugababes for 12 years. I was in that band because I loved it, not to elevate myself. |

 |
 |
Mutya Buena feels naked wearing skimpy outfits during the day.
The 'Just A Little Bit' singer loves going out clubbing in short skirts and hot pants, but only feels comfortable baring her flesh in the darkness.
Mutya said: 'Sometimes I'll walk out of a club at eight in the morning and people are going to work and church. I'll be wearing hot pants or a mini-dress - something you wouldn't expect someone to be wearing in the early hours of the morning. |
